Prosthetic Treatment
Crowns, bridges and implants may be hard to clean. PALIBRUSH® is a useful brush to maintain a stable treatment result.
Retroclined Teeth
A Class II division 2 malocclusion is characterised by upper front teeth that are retroclined (tilted toward the roof of the mouth), which can make cleaning difficult. PALIBRUSH® provides efficient access for plaque-removal in patients with retroclined teeth in both jaws.
Dr. Mauland, a board-certified specialist in periodontology, experienced repeated issues of patients failing to maintain excellent plaque-control in specific regions of the mouth. Particularly, the palatal and lingual tooth-surfaces were frequently showing persisting plaque deposits, causing residual inflammation and inferior outcomes of periodontal therapy, despite repeated instructions and advise in a range of available toothbrushes and interdental cleaning aids.
Dr. Mauland therefore kept thinking whether the available devices for self-performing oral hygiene measures were sufficient, or if better solutions could be developed. The idea of PALIBRUSH® was conceived.
In collaboration with Dr. Søvik, a Norwegian Orthodontist, PALIBRUSH® was designed, developed, and prototypes were tested. In addition to be beneficial in treatment of periodontal diseases, Palibrush® was designed to be useful in patients undergoing orthodontic therapy and retention. The use of fixed retainers may introduce difficulties in maintaining periodontal health, in mouth regions with limited visibility and access.
